President’s Message

Hello, Sierra Chapter. I wish you all a happy New Year! I like to scan past newsletters for inspiration when writing my message. I resisted the urge to copy/paste our current Director, and then-President, Dana Remington’s message about atmospheric rivers. I wish everyone well that has been negatively impacted by these short-term, high-intensity storms. While Mother Nature keeps us humble, these challenges provide us with opportunities to continue learning and innovating, two mainstays of our profession.

These cornerstones will come together many times over the next several months as student programs across the region compete in robotic challenges, concrete canoe races, steel bridge design, and other events. These programs welcome volunteers from the professional community to serve as mentors, technical experts, and judges. If you or your firm are unable to give your time, please consider other donations that help defray the cost of materials and students’ travel to competitive events.
