Presidents Message

And just like that, Fall is here.  Seems like just a few days ago we were melting in the 100-degree heat… perhaps because we were.  But now, the mornings are brisk, a brief thunderstorm has passed through, the leaves are turning (and falling), the days are getting shorter and the flu bugs are starting to make their rounds.

Here we are in October and 2019 is quickly winding down.  As the year winds down, we start to reflect back on the year we’ve had.  And there’s no better example of that than by recognizing and honoring all of the great projects and clients in our region.

I was thrilled to see so many great projects and clients nominated as a part of our 2019 Engineering Excellence Awards recognition program.  Seeing all of these great nominations is a reminder that our industry and our region are strong.  Despite the political drama in our state and our nation, the economy is stable, the job market is healthy and housing is strong.

Of course, we still face challenges.  Hiring and retaining qualified engineers, surveyors and scientists is an on-going challenge for many.  Navigating the political and regulatory environment requires patience and life-long learning.  But the positives far outweigh the negatives.  I encourage you all to come out and celebrate the great people, projects, firms and clients in our region at the 5th Annual Engineering Excellence Awards.  It’s a great opportunity to showcase the strength of our industry and our region, and recognize the hard work of many.  Please bring a colleague and young professional and join in the fun on the evening of October 16th.And just like that, Fall is here.
