Construction Management

UNICO offers construction management, structures representative. bridge, roadway, utility and electrical inspection, constructability reviews, document control and labor compliance.

Land Surveying

UNICO’s survey team has the technology and experience to address any surveying needs including topographic mapping, bathymetric (hydrographic) surveys, ALTA’s, boundary surveys, construction staking, easements, aerial surveys, right of ways, terrestrial LiDAR scanning and drone surveying.  Using the latest in GPS and robotic total station technology, UNICO works efficiently to deliver accurate results. UNICO is experienced in delivering projects that meet local, state, and federal requirements. Drone services include aerial photography for land surveying purposes and project documentation. The survey department works on design and construction projects for public and private clients throughout California.

Systems Engineering

As projects become more complex and technological, systems integration becomes a vital component of project delivery.  UNICO is at the forefront of delivering these services and solutions to infrastructure design and construction projects.  UNICO was an early adopter of these practices for infrastructure projects, drawing upon worldwide experience to build an industry leading team, which has resulted in our involvement in California High Speed Rail for over three years.  Systems Integration services include Verification and Validation, Requirements Management, Configuration Management, RAMS, Interface Management and Safety and Security Certification. In addition to California High Speed Rail, our Systems team is currently working on several projects for BART.

BSK maintains AASHTO/Caltrans-approved laboratories in Livermore, Fresno and Bakersfield. Standard tests that our materials laboratories can perform in accordance with ASTM and California Test Methods include:

Analytical Chemistry Services

BSK’s Analytical Division is accredited by TNI to perform environmental analyses.  BSK is accredited in all six fields of testing for drinking water, all five fields of testing for waste water and all five fields of testing for hazardous waste for Inorganics, Organics, Radiochemistry, Microbiology and Disinfection. BSK is certified to perform all analytical methods for UCMR4 and EPA Method 537 for PFAS.

We also help clients coordinate the work of different real estate professionals. These professionals include land surveyors, property appraisers, land planners, land attorneys, land title officers, and real estate brokers. We only serve clients in the private sector. As a result, we avoid conflicts-of-interest and function as strong project advocates.

Landon Blake is the lead land surveyor and land planner for Redefined Horizons. He spent the first 12 years of his career surveying in San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties. He has spent the last 6 years surveying in the California Central Valley and California Bay Area. Landon is licensed as a land surveyor in California and Nevada. He is a Certified Federal Surveyor and an FAA Certified Remote UAV Pilot.
