Presidents Message

I was playing golf the other day and I saw what I consider the first real sign of spring, “Daffodils”.  Even with Punxsutawney Phil predicting six more weeks of winter and the vernal equinox not for another two weeks, there is something about that first flower.  As does the world so does our industry continue to grow and renew each year.

Last month the Board was introduced to a program “CREATE” which stands for Construction – Re-development – Engineering – Architecture – Trades– Education.  The purpose of the CREATE Mentoring Program is to educate and inspire students to pursue career pathways which create the built environment.   Mentoring and providing scholarships for our up and coming professionals is one of the most important things ACEC and its membership can provide.

This month’s meeting is all about our young professionals.  The “YOUNG PROFESSIONALS FORUM”.   We will have a short presentation from Jordan Blair, SRBX Education Foundation Executive Director and Katie Carbone, CREATE Program Coordinator followed by the forum.

The panel for the Forum will be Tom Sell, PE, PMP, QSD – Vice President, Principal Engineer with Gannett Fleming; Scott Lillibridge,  Associate Principal / Region Manager with Rick Engineering;  Rosa Griggs, PE, Senior Engineer with Dokken Engineering; Missy Pieri, Director of Engineering at Citrus Heights Water District and moderated by Kevin Gustorf, Principal Water Resources with Wood Rodgers.

Please join the meeting and encourage your Young Professionals to attend and bring questions for this highly respected panel.

The next Chapter Meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 12:00PM. A teams meeting invite will be emailed soon!

Look forward to seeing everyone soon.
