President’s Message

ed_hendersonLast month our 2nd Annual Past Presidents Dinner was a huge success.  We had seventeen past presidents in attendance, dating back to 1984.  I want to thank the past presidents for participating and sharing memories of our organization from the past three decades.  I’m already looking forward to next year’s event so I can be a part of the past presidents group… and get a free dinner.

Our next dinner meeting on March 21st will be our first ever joint meeting with the Central Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the California Sierra Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).  The board of directors organized this event in recognition that our chapter is comprised of many private development firms that work closely with architects and landscape architects.  We hope this event will entice participation from firms that may not normally attend due to the fact that most of our dinners feature speakers from the public arena, not the private.  In any case, it will be a fun evening of networking and hanging out with the other half of the A&E community.

Two other reminders for upcoming events:  March 14th Legislative Visit Day at the State Capitol and May 14th – 17th ACEC-CA Annual Convention in Maui.  Don’t forget that all Sierra Chapter members receive a $90 discount on the annual convention registration fee because we won the Golden Chapter of the year award.  That should offset your tropical drink tab for the trip or maybe a few souvenirs.
