Mead & Hunt – An ACEC Comany Profile

Mead & Hunt is an employee-owned architectural and engineering firm with over 500 professional, technical and support staff in more than 30 offices nationwide. We have been serving clients in both the public and private sectors since our founding in 1900. In 2016, we ranked 151st in Engineering News Record’s Top 500 design firm list.

Mead & Hunt’s California locations include Sacramento, Santa Rosa, and Ontario. The Sacramento office was established in 2002 through an acquisition of Ensign & Buckley Consulting Engineers. Over the last 15 years, that office has expanded to meet client needs to its current strength of over 30 engineers, planners and other A/E professionals.

Focus on Water Resources

Mead & Hunt’s Sacramento office serves the water resources market throughout California, with public clients including water agencies, flood agencies and municipalities. The two specific sub-markets served are municipal water infrastructure and dams/hydropower. Our clients include the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, Pacific Gas & Electric Company and Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

Municipal Water Infrastructure

Mead & Hunt’s Sacramento office actively serves municipal water infrastructure needs. That includes pumping, conveyance, storage and treatment. We also provide services related to flood protection planning and design. A recent water supply infrastructure project involved improvements to the Colorado River Aqueduct, which is a critical water conveyance facility that transfers supplies from the Colorado River to California.

Dams & Hydropower

Since the early 1900s, Mead & Hunt has been a leader in dam and hydropower design. We continue that legacy today. Dams/hydropower is a primary market for our Sacramento office. We serve water and power providers across California. For the last decade, we have continuously provided these services to PG&E, the largest private owner of hydroelectric facilities in the US with 174 dams and 110 generating units at 68 powerhouses.
