Our speaker for the November 16th meeting was Sergio Escobar. Sergio, who has a longtime Sacramento connection, currently serves as the Chief of the Conveyance Office at the California Department of Water Resources. Sergio’s presentation was on the California Water Fix project.  He discussed about the technical and non-technical challenges facing this ambitious project through Sacramento Delta.  The technical challenges include construction of tunnels at 150 feet depth with high groundwater conditions. He also presented results of preliminary design of the tunnels and three intake structures.
