Sergio Escobar, P.E—Conveyance Office Chief, Calif. Dept. of Water Resources (DWR) November Meeting Speaker

escobarMr. Escobar has a B.S. in Civil Engineering and over 26 years of experience in the design and construction of civil water infrastructure projects, including over 19 years at the supervisory and managerial levels.

Sergio is currently the Conveyance Office Chief and leading the Department of Water Resources activities for the technical work associated with the improvement of water conveyance in the Delta.    Sergio provides oversight, technical guidance, and functional supervision of multi-disciplinary staff.  He is a member of the Design and Construction Enterprise which is charged with planning and implementing the efforts of the California WaterFix project facilities.

His presentation will provide a summary of the conceptual engineering completed for the California WaterFix (CWF) and an update on the current status of CWF.  The CWF will make physical improvements to the state’s 50-year old water delivery infrastructure.   The new system will improve, protect and maintain: ecosystem health; water quality; and water supplies so that the SWP and CVP are capable of reliably delivering water within a stable regulatory framework.  The current system is outdated and unreliable, and dependent on levees that put clean water supplies at risk from earthquakes and sea level rise.
