Ray Leftwich, City Engineer—City of Lincoln. Meeting Recap

ray-leftwichOur speaker for the October 19th meeting was Ray Leftwich. Ray is a lifetime California resident serving as the City Engineer in Lincoln. Ray talked about the advantages and disadvantages of working with consulting engineers for municipal projects, and explained why the City of Lincoln uses a mixed model with in house engineers supervising the work of consulting engineers. Ray then discussed upcoming capital improvement projects the city will need to meet its growth over the next 50 years. (The population of Lincoln is expected to triple in this time period.)

He also answered questions about the maintenance of existing infrastructure and his thoughts on how to get future growth to pay for transportation infrastructure.
