As a Saturday sunrise begins to brighten my kitchen and I ponder my president’s message, I am inspired by the thought that this is my last message. This is my final bout of having to go twelve rounds against writer’s block only to squeak out a split decision. No more searching for the creative writing skills that are repressed within an engineer’s mind. Freedom to only wake up early on a Saturday morning for justifiable reasons, like playing golf. All joking and confessions aside, it has been an honor to serve as Sierra Chapter president and I am thankful for the experience… even the experience of writing president’s messages for the newsletter.

There are several people I’d like to thank for making this past year a successful one for the Sierra Chapter. First of all, thank you to the dedicated members who attended our monthly dinner meetings. A special thanks to Debbie LoCicero, Lisa Thut and Kristen Kho for working behind the scenes to keep our chapter organized and publicized. Thank you to my fellow board members for arranging great guest speakers and bringing your sense of humor to our board meetings. Finally, I’d like to thank Terry Lowell (‘98-‘99 Sierra Chapter past president) who facilitated my introduction to the board six years ago and mentored me throughout.

So that wraps it up for me. I look forward to next year when I can resume my leisure reading of the newsletter as a subscribing member. I pass my pen to the very capable Steve Greenfield as your 2012-2013 president.
