March Meeting Recap, Mr. Roger Niello, President of the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce

The March meeting marked the first joint meeting with AIA and ASLA. While a number of landscape architects attended, the AIA members were not well represented. Sierra Chapter President Ed Henderson asked David Murillo with the ACEC-CA State Office to present an overview of our organization for the benefit of ASLA members and current chapter president for ASLA, Dalton LaVoie, summarized the current activities of his organization. In addition, UOP student Vickie Thai, recipient of the first Tim Fleming Scholarship Award was present to collect her check for $1,500.

Our guest speaker was Roger Niello, President and CEO of the Sac Metro Chamber of Commerce. Roger provided a summary of the road he has taken from Sac Metro Chamber volunteer to his years in the State Legislature to his return to the Chamber of Commerce as its President and CEO. Roger also discussed his view of the economic outlook for the Sacramento Region and the role his organization will take in leading that effort.

The evening was full of laughs as celebrity judges Mark Gilbert with ENGEO and Jeffery Townsend with Jacobs rated each speakers performance.
