ACEC Legislative Visit Day Recap

On March 14, 2012, the Sierra Chapter joined other chapters from around the state for the 2012 Legislative Visit Day. This is our annual opportunity to meet with our legislators and explain our views on various issues that impact our industry. In my opinion, this is one of the most important activities for ACEC since it provides direct access to the people that have such impact on our businesses. In most cases the legislators are glad to hear our talking points and appreciate our effort. Some not so much.

Sierra Chapter members met with the following legislators (or their staff) on March 14th: Assemblymember Richard Pan, Assemblymember Alyson Huber, Assemblymember Jim Nielson, Assemblymember Mariko Yamada, Assemblymember Dan Logue, Assemblymember Beth Gaines, Senator Lois Wolk, Senator Doug LaMalfa, Senator Darrell Steinberg, and Senator Ted Gaines.

At lunch we honored Senator Bob Huff from the 29th District (Los Angeles) as ACEC’s 2012 Legislator of the Year.

Sierra Chapter members who participated in Legislative Visit Day included: Eddie Kho, Paul Enneking, Ted Hopkins, Tony Martin, Russ Nygaard, Kelly Birkes, Jeff Patton, Tom Blackburn, and Marco Palilla. If you missed this years event, be sure to join us in 2013, you will get a first hand look at the political process (good and bad) that drives our society.
